Photos of your card
Use the original front and back photos you took before the theft (the sharpest, most complete you have, not screenshots or crops). A twin made from older photos may match less precisely than one made from the card in hand.
Creating a Verisart Web3 COA or NFT requires passing our Authentic Item Integrity screening during checkout. Selling an NFT or transferring the Verisart Web3 COA with the paired card subjects you to local, provincial/state or federal laws on withholding or shipping a stolen, forged, altered, tampered or substituted item.
About the theft
No COA or NFT is issued while your card is missing. We create it once the card is recovered. Until then, your twin stays private and is used for matching.
Registry-only twin (no COA)
A private record of your card in the Sprunger Originals stolen card registry, without a Verisart certificate of authenticity (COA). For any raw or graded card worth $200+ CAD, and any Gretzky rookie card.
What you give up without a COA
- Transferable proof of ownership to pass on to a future buyer
- Certificate documentation to give an insurer
- An independent third-party blockchain record (Verisart record and contract ID)
- A public provenance page (your card's story, ownership timeline and added images)
- A card label: labels are available with the Web3 COA or NFT twin
- Any boost to resale value that a verified COA may bring

Photo tips: how to photograph your card

Do: Good Flat on a dark, plain, matte surface. Even light. All four edges showing. -
Don't: Glare A bright hot spot hides the surface. Turn off the flash and tilt away from the light. -
Don't: Busy background Patterns hide the edges and corners. Use a plain, dark surface. -
Don't: Too dark Dim light hides wear and print detail. Move to bright, even light. -
Don't: In a sleeve Plastic adds shine and hides the edges. Take the card out first.
- Lay the card flat on a dark, plain, non-shiny surface.
- Use bright, even light with no flash.
- Take raw cards out of any sleeve or top loader.
- If your card is in a grading company's slab, never remove it. Opening it voids the grade. Just tilt the slab to avoid glare on the case, and make sure the slab label is readable in the front photo.
- Fill the frame and keep all four edges in view.

Web3 COA
For raw or graded cards. Before we issue it, Sprunger Originals does a photo-based authenticity review of your card. The Verisart Web3 COA records your card's identity and ownership based on that review. It isn't a grade, and it isn't an in-hand authentication by PSA or any other grader.* If your card is in a grading company's slab (PSA, BGS, SGC, CGC, KSA and others), we record the grader and cert number from your slab photo.
NFT
Tokenize your card if you plan to sell it on an NFT marketplace, or if you want the card and its story as a digital collectible. Your NFT comes with its own Web3 dashboard where you can view the photos and media you provided and share them on social media. Our NFTs are built on the Polygon protocol.

Your repeat price applies to the same type of twin you bought before (Web3 COA or NFT). After your first order, it's turned on within 7 days and applied automatically at checkout when you use the same email address. Registry-only twins are always $9.99. Product pages show the regular price.

- You must have the card in your possession.
- Choose Web3 COA or NFT, select the quantity and check out.
- Optional: upgrade your card with labels that link to its digital twin.
- Photo ID and proof of possession are required. After checkout, you'll receive an email with instructions for both, plus tips for your photos and your card's story.

*Some alterations, such as trimming, restoration, recolouring, pressed creases, cleaning, wax or gloss enhancement, can't be reliably detected from photos. A grading company examines the card in hand and may return it as altered or ungradable even when our photo review is favourable.
