Every quarter, Sprunger Originals will be refreshing its PSA population and sales data for the 1979-80 Wayne Gretzky #18 rookie, in both the O-Pee-Chee and Topps versions. The question we hear most is "what's my card worth?", so here are the highlights from the October 13, 2026 update.

1. More cards graded, mostly in lower grades
PSA has now graded 15,966 OPC copies (up 1,176 since January) and 12,583 Topps copies (up 686). Most of the new cards came back below PSA 8. About 72% of the new OPC copies landed between PSA 1 and 4, and PSA 8 grew by only 25 OPC and 8 Topps copies. High grades are becoming a smaller share of each population.
2. No new PSA 9s or 10s
There are still just 2 OPC and 1 Topps PSA 10s. The OPC PSA 9 count, including qualifiers, is unchanged at 131. Topps went from 208 to 207, which usually means a card was regraded or crossed over. OPC centring and print issues continue to limit high-grade results.
3. Prices are up in most grades
Public sales from January 26 to October 11, 2026 averaged higher than our 2025 figures in most grades for both cards. A few examples, in USD:
- OPC PSA 4: about $2,017, up from $945
- OPC PSA 8: about $18,972, up from $14,600
- Topps PSA 7: about $3,615, up from $2,008
OPC PSA 9 averaged about $117,500, which is lower than in 2025. No PSA 10 of either version sold this year.
4. Treat small samples with care
Some grades had only a handful of sales in 2025 or 2026, so a single strong or weak sale can move an average a lot. Use these figures as a guide, not as a price for your card. Centring, eye appeal and sale timing all matter.
